Pear and Chocolate Oat Crumble
This is a simplification of a recipe from Nigel Slater: he slightly caramelizes the pears in butter and sugar, but I skipped that step. I halved the amount of sugar added to the pears as mine were very sweet, and I used a full 100g bar of dark chocolate (Menier 70%).
Ingredients
- 4 pieces pears, ripe
- 0.5 pieces lemon, juiced
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 85 grams butter
- 80 grams plain flour
- 80 grams demerara sugar
- 3 tablespoons oats
- 80 grams dark chocolate, chopped to a rough gravel texture
- 1 pinch salt
Directions
Preheat oven to 180℃.
Peel and core the pears, cut into chunks and toss with the granulated sugar and lemon juice. Place in the bottom of a shallow baking dish.
Rub together the flour and butter, then stir in the oats, chocolate, demerara sugar, and salt. Sprinkle on top of the pears.
Bake for 45 minutes, until nicely coloured.
