# Dorset apple cake Recipe yields 6 servings ### Ingredients * 8 ounces plain flour * 2 teaspoons baking powder * 0.5 teaspoons ground nutmeg * 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon * salt * 4 ounces butter * 4 ounces caster sugar * 8 ounces apples, peeled and diced * 1 pieces egg * 2 tablespoons milk ### Directions Pre-heat oven to 180C. Grease and line a 20cm square cake tin. Sift flour, spices and baking powder into a bowl and add pinch of salt. Rub in buter. Stir in sugar and diced apples. Beat egg with milk then stir into dry ingredients to form a stiff dough. Fill the cake tin (it should be quite shallow). Bake for 45-60 minutes in the pre-heated oven; test with a skewer to check.
